What does it mean to come home when you have grown up between two cultures?

That question sits at the heart of the first episode of Dami Grace Presents, a documentary series created and hosted by British Nigerian filmmaker Dami Grace.

In this opening episode, Dami sits down with Malobi Ogbechie, founder of Kadan Kadan, for a candid conversation about identity, belonging, Nigeria and his decision to build his future in the country.

Having grown up between Britain and Nigeria, Malobi reflects on the experiences that shaped his relationship with his Nigerian and African identity, what made him proud to be African, and how his perspective on Nigeria changed over time.

The conversation also explores the realities of doing business in Nigeria, the challenges entrepreneurs face and Malobi’s belief that Nigerians cannot always wait for government to solve every problem.

Dami and Malobi also discuss the privilege that can come with having access to both Britain and Nigeria, and the responsibility that comes with recognising problems and thinking about what can be done to address them.

But beyond business and entrepreneurship, the conversation raises a wider question for the diaspora: when you belong to more than one place, what does it really mean to come home?

Through Dami Grace Presents, Dami explores identity, culture, community and the experiences of people navigating life between different worlds.
